The Subaru WRX: A Sports Sedan Built to Perform

The Subaru WRX would make any performance-minded driver excited about heading out on the roads around Bedford and Spencer. As Subaru's sports sedan, the WRX is a unique vehicle that has a nice blend of features.

In a Subaru WRX, you'll either find a 2.0-liter or a 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, both of which come with four cylinders. The smaller engine has impressive power, with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. If you prefer to have even more capability, you'll want to get one of the STI trims, which are powered by the 2.5L engine. This engine comes with 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, so the difference in responsiveness would definitely be noticeable. Every WRX has a six-speed manual transmission as a standard feature. Some of the mid-level options give you the option to get a Sport Lineartronic automatic transmission, and since it includes paddle shifters, you can still have the feeling of being in control over shifting. All of our WRX cars are built with symmetrical all-wheel drive to enhance traction when necessary as you commute from Bloomfield to Martinsville, IN.

In a WRX, you can drive with confidence because several different systems will be continually working to help you maintain control. Traction Control and Vehicle Dynamics Control are some of the components that will make adjustments in order to optimize handling. The best part is that you won't have to change anything about how you drive; your car will simply know what to do and when to do it. Other standard components of the WRX's safety suite are a rear-vision camera, Daytime Running Lights, and Brake Assist. Brake Assist will go into action if a driver hits the brakes suddenly; in this situation, the car will ensure that maximum brake pressure is applied right away, since it's likely that the driver is trying to avoid hitting an obstacle. Some of the trims give you the option to have your WRX built with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. This package includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warnings. Select trims also come with blind-spot detection, available high-beam assist, and available reverse automatic braking.

Trim Levels

There are five trims available on the Subaru WRX. The base model is simply called the WRX, and it's followed by the WRX Premium and WRX Limited. They all run on the 2.0-liter engine. The base model comes with a manually adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an automatic climate control system. Upgrades in the Premium include automatic on/off headlights, heated front seats, and a power moonroof. In the Limited, you see more enhanced features such as LED headlights, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, leather seats, and keyless access with push-button start.

The WRX STI and WRX STI Limited run on the 2.5-liter engine we described earlier. In addition to having the advanced engine, these trims are built with Ultrasuede and leather-trimmed seats, STI gauges and badging, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. The STI Limited has some unique advantages, including Recaro performance-design front seats and a premium Harman Kardon speaker system. It's also the only STI trim to come with a power moonroof and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

Every trim of the WRX comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM All Access Radio, HD Radio, and Bluetooth connectivity as part of Subaru's STARLINK infotainment system. While the base model has a 6.5-inch touchscreen, the other trims have a seven-inch touchscreen that includes voice-activated controls and SiriusXM Travel Link. Standard in the WRX STI Limited and available on the WRX Limited is a voice-activated GPS navigation system as well as select STARLINK apps.
