  • Engine oil and oil filters. The former lubricates moving engine parts, reducing wear, helping eliminate systemic contaminants, neutralizing acidic byproducts, enhancing piston ring seals, and dissipating heat. The latter captures them and releases cleaner oil back into the chamber. Change your oil and filter regularly for a more efficient and longer-lasting engine.
  • Radiators. These cool your engine block using metal fins that reduce oil temperature, helping to prevent overheating. If the latter's a problem for you, a radiator is just one of several possible causes. Our professional, state-of-the-art service center can help you check out what's going on.
  • Brake pads. Rotors aren't all that deliver the stopping power you need for controlled halts. These high-friction surfaces apply the necessary pressure for it, and they wear over time, especially across four seasons of Indiana weather. Squeaking, crunching, or a whine are telltale signs it might be time for new ones.
  • Head gaskets. This seal's found between your engine block and its cylinder head. Its job is to close off the combustion process and keep coolant and oil from mixing between them. Not particularly easy to check for proper sealing or cracks on your own without the proper know-how, this is often a job for expert car repair specialists like ours.
  • Knock sensors. These monitors can be found on your intake manifold, your engine's cylinder, or on the block itself. Yours actively watches the engine as it fires, and if it senses something amiss, it reports it to your Subaru vehicle's computer. Trouble speeding up? Is your check engine light on? It could be the problem.
  • Batteries. The rechargeable electrical energy source that starts your car or SUV's engine, shunting power to other systems by way of an alternator. Continuous trouble "turning over" or starting up might mean you need a battery change.
  • Head and tail lights. When these become foggy, turn yellow, and otherwise amass the debris of our rugged Hoosier State country, it means reduced visibility. When a regular cleaning isn't doing it anymore, it's a good idea to replace them.
  • Windshield wipers. Is their contact with the glass intermittent? Operational noise becoming excessive? Are they skipping, smearing, or streaking? Visibility can be affected, so a replacement might be your best bet, especially every six to twelve months.
  • Air filters. You have two: one for your vehicle's engine, which helps prevent contaminants from entering, and one for the interior, which helps capture them as they come through your air conditioning and heat vents. Brittleness, deep discoloration, or debris clogs might indicate it's time to change them.
  • Timing belts. This is a thick toothed belt, held tightly by a tensioner, that connects the camshaft to your Subaru engine's crankshaft timing gears, keeping both working together. It also turns a gear for your water pump. The result is an engine running properly, and if forgone maintenance leads to failure, it can mean anything from a stall to mechanical damage to engine failure. If your Subaru is near 60,000 miles, or between it and 105,000 miles, and you're experiencing symptoms, remove your timing belt inspection cover and examine the belt's condition. Is it missing teeth or broken? It's time to get it replaced.
  • Serpentine belts. This runs between your Subaru alternator, its fan, and other components. Take a look at it for condition and proper tension. Deterioration, looseness, brokenness, missing pieces, or squealing indicates a replacement need.
  • Transmission components. To transfer engine power to your vehicle's driveshaft and wheels, you need to be able to shift gears. A failed transmission means this is impossible, and that's essentially a Subaru car or SUV stuck in your driveway. Luckily for you, we stock plenty of these parts, from pumps and planetary gear sets to a torque converters and valve bodies and everything between.

Of course, if you'd prefer to talk shop, you're welcome to get in touch with the knowledgeable team of parts specialists here on East 3rd Street. We look forward to helping your job take off without a hitch!
