2017 Outback
The 2017 Outback is available in three trim levels: the 2.5i, the 3.6R, and the Limited.
The base 2.5i model comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. A CVT is standard. The 3.6R comes with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. It also comes standard with a CVT. The fuel economy is great as you commute from Bedford to Spencer. A used outback gets a combined EPA of 30 mpg.
2018 Outback
For 2018, the Outback receives a few updates from the 2017 model. For 2018, the Outback Sport is the base model, coming with a new six-speed manual transmission. The CVT is still available as an option as well.
The Limited trim level has been discontinued, and the new top-of-the-line model is called the Touring. It comes standard with a CVT and the turbocharged engine from the previous year's Limited model.

The SUV is also available with a new turbocharged engine on the Limited and Touring trim levels. This engine produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The 2020 Outback can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
